Final Four at the Court Recap!

Despite the tough ending for fans as Auburn fell to Florida in the Final Four, the energy on Northside Square Saturday night was anything but disappointing. Downtown Huntsville was alive with basketball buzz as fans gathered in the heart of the city for Final Four at the Court, a high-energy watch party that proved college hoops has found a real foothold in a state traditionally dominated by college football.

The event, hosted by Downtown Huntsville, Inc. in partnership with the Huntsville Hardwood Club, drew hundreds to Courthouse Square for an evening of hoops, community, and celebration. The Hardwood Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting basketball across North Alabama, brought the spirit of the game front and center in a unique downtown setting. With major support from Twickenham Advisors, Southern States Bank, Kristin Davis Realty, Martinson & Beason, and the Huntsville Sports Commission, the night came together as a true showcase of collaboration and community pride.

The festivities kicked off around 3 p.m. as music filled the air and a giant LED board lit up with pregame coverage from San Antonio. Bars and restaurants along Northside Square prepared their patios for the crowd, and fans began arriving early to claim their spots. Folding chairs lined the square, kids ran around in team gear, and local eateries saw bustling foot traffic from basketball fans eager to watch the action unfold.

As tip-off approached, the atmosphere was electric. Fans cheered loudly for every play, turning Courthouse Square into an open-air arena. Though Auburn’s loss to Florida brought a few long faces, the passion and pride for college basketball remained strong. With standout seasons from Alabama, Auburn, and UAH, it’s clear that the sport has carved out its own spotlight in the state.

Beyond the game, Final Four at the Court was a celebration of togetherness. Whether you were a diehard fan, a casual observer, or someone simply enjoying the downtown scene, the event created a space where community and sport intersected in the best way. It was a reminder of how public space and shared experiences can elevate something as simple as a game into a full-on city moment.

Downtown Huntsville, Inc. and its partners once again proved that downtown isn’t just a place to pass through—it’s a place to gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories. With the continued growth of basketball culture in Alabama, expect more events like this to pop up throughout downtown in the future.
