Celebrating Huntsville Music Month
By Abigail Harrison, DHI Communications Coordinator
Huntsville is hitting all the right notes this September as the city celebrates Huntsville Music Month. Organized by the Huntsville Music Office, this month-long celebration is all about highlighting local talent, fostering collaboration, and supporting the city’s dynamic community of artists.
“This event celebrates every facet of our music community, from on-stage talent to the unsung heroes like sound technicians and venue promoters,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “To ensure their continued success, it’s important for us to attend local shows, purchase music and merchandise and take a moment to acknowledge the hard work of our artists and their teams. Our support helps sustain and elevate our vibrant musical landscape.”
One of the highlights of this year’s Huntsville Music Month is the Launchpad Music Festival taking place September 6-8 at Big Spring Park East. The three-day event will feature a stellar lineup including The Beastie Goys, an electrifying Beastie Boys tribute band, alongside talented acts like R&B artist Mechi Rae, Soul Karnival, Carver Commodore, and Huntsville's own Silver Silos.
"Launchpad showcases the wealth of talent right here in the Tennessee Valley," Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella said. "The region boasts a deep well of skilled artists, and we’re thrilled to feature some of them on a big stage right in the heart of downtown Huntsville."
But that's just the beginning. Here's a look at some of the other can't-miss events happening in downtown throughout the month:
Jazz in the Park: Every Sunday in September from 5-9 p.m., enjoy smooth jazz in Big Spring Park East. This annual concert series, led by the City’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, is free to attend.

Make plans to attend the Downtown Lunch Lounge, hosted by DHI and the Music Office, to enjoy free live music every weekday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Courthouse Square. The lineup features some amazing women musicians who will create a relaxing atmosphere for folks to enjoy their lunch hour.

Urban Music Symposium: On September 21 from 3-7 p.m., dive deep into the world of urban music at Tangled String Studios, with representatives from major industry players like Atlantic Records and Warner Records.
