Must-Attend End of Summer Events

July is coming to an end and that means summer is nearly over. Make sure you soak up the last bits of summer fun with these exciting events happening around downtown this week! 

Cigar Box Guitar Lessons
Head on over to Lowe Mill and drop into the Cigar Box Guitar Store in studio 106 for free cigar box guitar lessons! You can stay for the whole lesson or only for a few minutes, it's up to you. Loaner guitars are available for you to use and no previous experience is required. Grab your friends and family and maybe pick up a new hobby before the summer comes to an end!

This event is Saturday, August 3 from 12 to 2 PM inside of Lowe Mill.

Grown-up Back 2 School Party
Straight to Ale is celebrating the end of summer, adult style! Look forward to a fun-filled evening featuring themed cocktails, delicious eats from Ale’s Kitchen, and “first day of school” photo ops. Don’t miss out on a chance to “drink on campus” with Straight to Ale’s brand new “In School Suspension Hazy IPA.” Straight to Ale is also extending their school supplies drive for Free 2 Teach, so bring your donations to score 10% off of your food and merch for the night. 

This event is Friday, August 2 from 7 to 11 PM at Campus 805.

Olympic Watch Party & Food Truck Rally
Grab your friends, family, or pets and head downtown to enjoy our mouthwatering food truck vendors, yard games, and kids activities. This makeup Food Truck Rally will be in combination with a Downtown Olympic Watch Party. Participating food truck vendors will have Olympic themed food specials for you to enjoy. Don’t forget to bring a chair or blanket to sit, eat, and watch the Olympic games in beautiful Big Spring Park!

This event is Friday, August 2 from 5 to 9 PM at Big Spring Park. 

Laser Show: Taylor Swift Edition 
Rocket City Lasers is throwing a Taylor Swift laser show! Enjoy unforgettable hits from all 10 of her eras. Laser shows include intense flashing lights, loud music, and fog. Sing along to all of your favorites and let the show transport you through all of her eras with the help of lasers. This event is all ages and family friendly, but be prepared for the loud music and bright lights. Buy your ticket here.

Concert in the Park
This is your last chance to catch a Concert in the Park! Come on out to Big Spring Park to enjoy this free concert and delicious food trucks. In honor of it being the last concert of the season, look forward to a surprise lineup and a one of a kind drone show. Grab your friends and family, along with your own seating to enjoy this concert!

This event is Monday, August 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in Big Spring Park.
