Saturday May 1st, is a jam packed day for activities in Downtown Huntsville! Start your morning off with a run and support We Run Huntsville's Give It Back Track 5k! This year's race benefits Heart to Heart Pet Partners, Inc., who provides highly trained teams of handlers and certified animals to approved assisted living and long-term care facilities, educational programs and medical facilities. This race uses the Liz Hurley 5K course, a certified 5K course, which takes runners through beautiful downtown Huntsville, including the Twickenham and Old Town Historic Districts. The race starts at the corner of Lowe Avenue and Adams Street, and ends at Huntsville Junior High School.
After your run, join Mayor Battle and the HPD for a 4-mile bike ride around Downtown at the Mayors Bike Ride event! Sign your waiver and visit vendors starting at 10:30 a.m. and ride promptly starts at 11:00 a.m. If you don't have a bike, don't worry! You can use one of our Blue Bikes sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and powered by Tandem Mobility. They are found throughout Downtown and the Mayor has his own discount code for 4 hours of free riding Saturday only! Use code: 100Mayor
After you run a 5k and bike 4 miles, you'll probably be hungry, so stop by Jefferson and Holmes intersection for a block party! La Esquina is hosting a Cinco de Mayo Block Party, and MELT will have live music. The street will be blocked off for dining, and deals will be going all night!
This is a Saturday in Downtown you don't want to miss!
