Huntsville has a new mural and we are loving it! This 3-story mural is up in Downtown Huntsville to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.
Artist Kimberly Radford's 19th Amendment mural design is inspired by the site’s narrow dimensions and proximity to the tree growing on Washington Street. Radford created an epic sized young girl reaching high to share a neighborly drink with the tree. She is clothed in candy-colored fabric pieced together like a southern quilt, closely stitched to her surroundings. She blooms from a garden of enormous camellias, bold foliage, and stands tall on a nourished foundation of freedom fought & won by women and men long before her. On the ground level of the design, the girl looks to her future while honoring the past with a “Votes for Women” sash partially visible.
You can view this mural on the side of the parking deck on Washington Street. We are glad to be adding this piece to a long list of beautiful art in Downtown Huntsville!

The Downtown Huntsville Secret Art Trail aims to inspire people to explore and discover downtown’s public art, learn about the artists, and take a step off the beaten path. There are 18 stops along the trail and all of them are unique in their own way!
A map of the trail can be found at the Downtown Huntsville Visitor Information Center. You can grab a drink to go (served in a purple cup) and take a stroll through the downtown Arts & Entertainment District. This is a great opportunity to explore downtown in a safe physically distanced way. So, grab a map and see if you can take a photo at each stop; share your photos on social media and tag us!
It is time for another Friday Night Art Walk presented by Amanda Howard Sotheby's International Realty! Friday, August 28th from 5:00-8:00pm stroll the streets of downtown and support local creators. There will be over 30 local vendors selling handmade jewelry, T-shirts, home decor, and much more! The artists will be spread out along the Courthouse Square and adjacent streets to limit crowds and encourage social distancing!
We are also so excited to welcome Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) as our official Art Walk charity partner! They will have adoptable animals at the event, so if you are looking for your new furever best friend, this event is for you!
Even if you aren't in need of some new handmade items right now, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy at this event. Enjoy live music, stop in at your favorite local restaurants, and if you haven't already, begin the Craft Coffee Trail! Three stops on our Craft Coffee Trail are conveniently located nearby our Friday Night Art Walk vendors! Grab your Craft Coffee Trail card at the Huntsville/Madison Visitors Center or one of the stops along the trail and start collecting stamps!
To RSVP for this event, view the list of vendors, and view the event map, head over to our Facebook Event Page. We can't wait to see you there!
